Lionesses star Millie Bright has entered the history books by starting for Chelsea in Wednesday's clash with Crystal Palace – and for two reasons.

• And becomes just second player to 200 WSL games

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  At the end of March, Bright matched Mary Earps' record for the most starts in Women's Super League history when she made her 187th in the Blues' dramatic 2-2 draw with West Ham. Now, by being named to Chelsea's XI in the league meeting with Palace on Wednesday, she has surpassed her Lionesses' team-mate's achievement.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  That's not the only bit of history Bright has made, either. Her 188th WSL start is also the 31-year-old's 200th appearance in the competition altogether, accumulated from her time with Doncaster Rovers Belles and now Chelsea. She is just the second player in WSL history to hit that milestone.

• DID YOU KNOW?

  The other player to make 200 WSL appearances is also an England international. Jordan Nobbs, who has 71 senior caps to her name, became the first WSL star to hit that milestone back in December. The majority of those came for Arsenal, before the midfielder joined Aston Villa in January 2023.

  WHAT NEXT FOR BRIGHT AND CHELSEA?

  The most important WSL achievement for Bright right now will be leading Chelsea to the title once more. The Blues are in pole position to secure the trophy for a sixth successive season and their captain will be keen to get them over the line as soon as possible, with games against Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool remaining.
